Family Hike, Fort Collins, Colorado Family and Children’s Photographer

I just realized that, while I shared these on Facebook, I never posted these Fall shots on the blog. These are my kids being themselves and Colorado being pretty spectacular, too. This was the second (of only 2 so far) trip I have made to this location and it does not disappoint. That sky is to die for. Also? It just happens to pretty much be the Pantone 2-shade color of the year. A couple of these shots are currently listed in my Etsy shop if anyone is interested, but any of them can be made available.

New Year, New Technique(/Obsession)

This morning I woke up feeling overwhelmed with, in particular, our ongoing move to a new home. However, I also felt inspired to try something new. I’ve heard of freelensing for a while, but had never actually tried it. In a nutshell, it’s a photography technique whereby one holds a detached lens in front of the camera body and maneuvers it to achieve whatever effect they choose. The iteration beyond what I tried this morning (and again this evening) involves physically modifying a lens. I need to look in the vaults and see if I already have one I can donate to the cause before buying something to modify. Here are some of my favorites from today, but you can expect to see more in the future, as I love the imperfection, colors, and softness of these and know that with a modified lens, my love will only grow. They also remind me of experimental film work I did decades ago, and the technique breathes life and soul into these digital images, which can sometimes lack emotion. Love these? Let me know in the comments here, or on Facebook!
